So I was changing my oil on Friday and I noticed that there is a streak of lube  evil6 right above my inner CV boot on the driver's side... but I looked at the boot and felt it for a tear and it seemed fine. The metal dealies  (can't think of wth they're called. Still retarded from the weekend) on the ends of it are still intact, so any ideas/recommendations?

I need to get this squared away before ASM  icon_sad

LoL curse of the ms3 (both gens)

Both oliver and i have the Drivers side inner cv boot torn...

As oli said i would clean and check...as my hole is a Tiny pin sized hole. I havent fixex it yet cuz mazda didnt stock the part had to order....

Only reason i found mine with a hole is i was doing my coilovers.

Dont let it get dry otherwise overtime all dirt and grime gets in there the axle can get ruined

Eh, there was a lot of lube and after squeezing the boot and comparing it to the other, it's definitely running out of lube.

Ha! We'll grow up.. someday. Tongue

Where'd you get it fixed at and how much did it cost? It's not to the point of clicking, but I don't want it to get there either.

icon_thumright Thanks! I was thinking about taking my car there... $90 is feasible for sure.. and I understand that they'll prolly rack me on labor, but nothing beats peace of mind when it comes to my Grouch. Poor guy has already been through a lot.  icon_redface

Oh cool... I'll prolly be there manana. Thanks for the offer on the hook up, but I used to work for dealerships and I know that they don't like to over-extend their courtesies. Maybe I'll come visit you just to say hello lol

What do you do there?

I had a leaky CV boot for like 7-8 months. When it was cold out, all I heard was loud thuds. Then my driver side SU mount broke and caused my axle to break. I guess it was a sign to fix it.  icon_lol

Just buy the boot and have Alien3T fix it.

damn, thas not a bad idea. I just spoke to the fam mechanic and he said it's best to replace the whole axel. I've been trying to track down parts; Browning doesn't have them in stock.  icon_rolleyes And I'm doing this all so that I could make it to ASM in one piece... then I start thinking, if I have to replace the axel anyway, I could just drive it until i find the time and parts. Such a f'n pain in the ass... but I will hit up Hugh. He could save me a big fat headache.

Ash Hugh what to do. If it's just recent, you could probably get away with just getting a new boot. Boots are like $50 I believe. A new driver side axle is like $300.
